Tina Fisher, Legal Assistant
It’s not often that a high school job determines your career, but such was the case for Tina. In grade 11, she began working for a lawyer after school and on weekends. “That was back in the day when dictation was tape and the pedal,” she reminisces. It was her first job — and it set the stage for the rest of her life.
Tina learned how to be a legal assistant on the job, working primarily in criminal defence and labour and employment. By the time she joined McLeod Law in 2002, she had a decade of experience. Since then, she’s worked in family law, corporate and personal injury too, but says, “My happy place is in wills and estates. I LOVE it.” She’s currently assistant to Shelley Waite and Lindsey Louro.
Working on the administrative side, Tina keeps Shelley and Lindsey organized and is the first point of contact when clients call, guiding them to their next steps. She enjoys the mutual respect among the firm. “McLeod is very trusting and flexible,” she says. “They understand what it’s like to have a busy life with kids and other commitments.”
Tina loves to travel with her husband, who’s a music buff, so they travel a lot to catch their favourite acts live. “Any concert … we’re all over it.”
